WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A Delaware judge says the union representing hundreds of workers for Philadelphia's two largest newspapers can participate in the dissolution of their ownership group.
The judge this week granted a request by the Newspaper Guild of Greater Philadelphia to intervene in proceedings that will determine the fate of Interstate General Media.
The company is being dissolved as its owners fight over control of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and the Philly.com website.
Majority owner George Norcross wants an auction between the two feuding ownership groups, while rival Lewis Katz wants a sealed-bid auction open to anyone.
The guild, which represents about 550 editorial and administrative workers, is pushing for Interstate's assets to be sold in a public auction and says it should be permitted to participate in bidding.
